More than 150,000 people have died from Covid 19 virus, but so far no drugs have been proven to cure the disease. More than 150 medicines are being studied worldwide.
Most of these are available drugs that have been tested against the virus.
The World Health Organization WHO has launched joint trials to explore optimistic treatment.
The UK says its trials are the largest in the world with over 5000 patients participating.
And many research centers around the world try to use the blood of survivors as medicine.
What kind of medicine can work?
There are three types of drugs that are being studied:
Antiretroviral drugs that directly affect the viral load can help the
immune system - patients are more vulnerable when their immune system
does overtime and causes damage to the body.
But what remedy is hoped to prevent corona virus?
Dr. Bruce Aylward, from the World Health Organization, said that
Remdesivir was the only drug that showed signs of hope, after being used
in China.
The antiretroviral drug was developed to treat Ebola but also showed that it could cure other diseases.
It has been shown to be successful in treating other serious coronavirus
infections such as MERS and lung problems in animal research, showing
optimism about the ability to treat corona virus.
The results of the leak test showed that it had potential.
It is one of only four of these joint trials conducted by WHO while the
company that is producing the drug in Gilead is also preparing trials.
There has been a whole lot of talk, but with little evidence that
different antiretroviral drugs Loponavir and ritonavir can treat corona
virus.
There has been evidence that they may work in laboratories but research among humans has no need for results.
The combination of the two drugs did not improve patient survival,
reduced mortality rates or even viral load in a patient with Covid 19.
However, while the trials were performed on the most vulnerable patients,
nearly a quarter of them died meaning that the drugs might not work
work if the patient is in the final stages of the corona virus.
Can malaria medicine prevent corona virus?
Anti-malarial drugs are among the drugs tested by WHO.
Chloroquine and Hudroxychloroquine may be able to counteract the corona
virus far from preventing the virus from being infected.
The drugs have gained popularity as one of the coronavirus remedies,
thanks to allegations made by President Trump, but there is also limited
evidence of its effectiveness.
Hydroxychloroquine is also used as a cure for rheumatoid arthritis as it can help the immune system.
Laboratory tests have shown that it can prevent the virus and there is evidence from doctors saying it can help patients.
However, the WHO states that there is no direct evidence of its potential.
Are medications for building up the immune system?
If the immune system is resistant to the virus then it can cause swelling in the body.
This happens if the immune system is assigned to fight off infections, but it can lead to physical damage and even death.
These joint trials conducted by the WHO have also involved the
interferon Beta drug, which is used to treat allergies and small
swelling.
Interferon is a group of chemicals that are released into the body when the immune system is attacked by a virus.
Can the blood of Covid 19 survivors treat the corona?
People who have survived corona virus infections should have antibodies in their blood that can attack the virus.
The idea is to take the same amount of antibodies in the blood and give the patient a cure.
The United States has successfully treated 500 patients using that
plasma and other countries have begun to follow the same procedure.

How long will it take before treatment is available?
It's too early to know when we can get a cure for corona virus.
However, we should start getting test results over the next few months.
This is much earlier than we will ever know if a vaccine that protects against infection rather than a cure is effective.
That's because doctors are trying drugs that have already been developed
and are known to be safe in its use, with vaccine researchers having to
start over.
Viliveile there are new anti-corona virus drugs that are being tested in
the laboratory but are not ready to be tested in humans.
Why do we need therapy?
The obvious reason for wanting a cure is that it will save lives, but it can also cancel out the orders of exile.
Effective treatment will make the corona virus weak.
If it prevents people in hospital from needing respiratory equipment
then there will be no need for patients to be taken to intensive care
units and therefore will not require careful patient care.
